About the event

On October 1 we launched the report “Confined by design: the human cost of protracted displacement in Gaza”, authored by DRC and our partner in Gaza, Agricultural Development Association (PARC).

The report shows how Israel’s strategy of frequent, forced, and often violent displacement of the population during the conflict’s first two years has morphed into a policy of protracted displacement. About 1.8 million people, or 86% of the population, live in 1,739 displacement sites. Meanwhile, the killings continue: more than 1,400 people have been killed since the 10 October ceasefire.

During the webinar, we will deep dive on the so called “yellow line”, the internal boundary Israel imposes in Gaza after the ceasefire, and that today occupies 70% of the strip, pushing Palestinians to live in just 30% of their territory in inhumane conditions.

Join our webinar “Confined by Design” to explore the findings of our latest report and hear the first-hand experiences of DRC in Gaza and our partner, Agricultural Development Association (PARC).

Speakers

Ahmed Mansour, DRC oPt Site Management Team Leader, based in Gaza
Salma Al Taweel, DRC oPt Base Manager, based in Gaza
Tamador Akel (PARC Head of Emergency Response Program)

Facilitator: Louise Le Bret, DRC oPt Advocacy Coordinator and Author of the report

Agenda

What is the yellow line?
How far has it moved, and what does that mean for Palestinians in Gaza?

What are the consequences for people’s safety and their hopes of returning home? How is the Yellow Line affecting humanitarian operations? In what ways does it contravene international humanitarian law and undermine plans for Gaza’s reconstruction and recovery?
