World Refugee Day 2022: How many are forced to flee?
According to the latest UN estimate, more than 100 million individuals worldwide have been forcibly displaced because of persecution, conflict, violence or human rights violations.
More than 1% are forced to flee
Right now, more than 1% of the world’s total population has been forced to flee. According to the UN, 89.3 million people were displaced at the end of 2021. This number has already gone up significantly, and the UN’s most recent estimate counts more than 100 million people who have been forcibly displaced as of June 2022.
