About the job
The HR Specialist supports the HR & Admin Manager in providing HR advice, coordination and management to the HR teams at the Country Office in Addis Ababa and technical HR support to field offices.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Drive and support end-to-end recruitment and selection activities ensuring compliance with recruitment process as per DRC recruitment guidelines.
- Ensure proper onboarding process by availing of tools and templates to managers and staff.
- Support staff development activities including promoting the DRC Learning Catalogue.
- Proactively respond to and manage performance counselling with a focus on building manager competency and ensuring that documentation is kept.
- Lead the performance management process
- Support implementation and review of salary structure, coordinate annual compensation review process and compensation adjustments as needed.
- Proactively pursue continuous process improvement in Human Resources related practices in order to enhance the quality and efficiency of output/delivery.
- Ensure maintenance and communication of staff insurance, liaising with service provider on awareness sessions and monitoring service leave agreement.
- Provide guidance on available staff welfare resources for expatriates and national staff.
- Act as an impartial mediator in disciplinary procedures and ensure it is administered in an equitable and fair manner and meets all legal and labour regulations and requirements
- Ensures HR systems follow internal, donor and national rules and regulations; trains staff in relevant HR policies, rules and regulations;
- Ensure staff are aware of Staff Human Resources Handbooks as necessary through training and regular guidance
About you
- To be successful in this role we expect you to minimum 3 years' working experience in Senior Human Resources similar/equivalent roles in an INGO. Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business or Social Science Degree specializing in HR..
- Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge/experience of Human Resources Management principles, concepts & processes
- Extensive knowledge on local labour law
- Excellent skills in handling and advising on complex people management issues
- Experience in developing Human Resources strategies and policies, and driving implementation
- Experience using an online system for recruitments
- Full professional proficiency in English
