Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.
DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and implements emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.
DRC is currently looking for a Truck Driver in Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv.
After successful interview, your final place of work will be determined according to operational needs.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

- Complete the daily driver's log.
- To be responsible for the use of the truck and trailer.
- Ensure the truck is in good working condition daily.
- Ensure timely reporting, recording and documenting of any faults on the truck to the relevant personnel and making sure all related documentation is available, timely and correctly filled.
- Perform daily maintenance according to the driver's manual and report any problems to the Demining Supervisor.
- Ensure the truck is timely serviced and scheduled maintenance timely carried out by the relevant qualified mechanics.
- Should drive safely the truck transporting MDU equipment.
- Should actively participate on MDU related equipment maintenance whenever required.
- Keep the car clean, including the engine, body and interior.
- Always check the vehicle is always equipped in accordance with the driver's manual.
- Ensure all passengers fasten their seat belts when driving, if applicable.
- Unauthorized passengers unrelated to DRC HDP programs and/or DRC HDP operations are prohibited unless approved by DRC HDP Supervisor.
- Perform all other duties as requested by the Demining Supervisor and Technical Advisor.
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to at least 5 years of experience driving a truck with a trailer. Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
- A valid C+E category driver's license.
- A valid medical certificate, including a health clearance from a narcologist and psychiatrist.
- Good physical condition (ability to handle heavy loads and operate hydraulic mechanisms).
- Compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Knowledge of fire safety and emergency procedures.
- Ability to perform daily vehicle and hydraulic system inspections before departure.
- Ability to identify and fix minor mechanical issues.
- Experience operating a multilift system (hydraulic hook loaders).
- Understanding of load capacity and hydraulic system principles.
- Knowledge of cargo securing rules, including the use of straps and chains.
- Proficiency in maneuvering a two-axle trailer, particularly during loading and unloading.
- Ability to work with transport documentation (trip logs, waybills, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of English.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national contracts.
