ABOUT THE JOB
The RE Officer will support the on-going DRC Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) projects in Afghanistan. S/he will be based in Kabul CO with travel to operational areas, when required. RE Officer will assist the EORE department in below tasks in order to achieve the project objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Assistance with procurement process and procurement plans updates and follow-up with procurement department, RE projects focal points and area offices;
- Maintain regular communication with the RE Officers/Team Leaders on day to day activities, such as data collection, project targets and RE material to ensure the implementation of smooth operation and to ensure the progress is meeting the project targets;
- Maintain regular communication with RE officers on RE material and arrange sending the required material to the project sites in a timely manner;
- Participate in data collection, analysis and maintenance of EORE related database and prepare proper filling system for all the EORE documents;
- Cross-check the data received from the field for any inconsistences with the data collection tools such as Kobo and DRC database;
- Travel to the target provinces for monitoring of EORE activities conducted by the female EORE facilitators to ensure the delivery of quality work;
- Closely work with MEAL department on sharing the pre-post data and other required data and provide assistance on data analysing;
- Create and maintain database of contacts with governmental and non-governmental institutions, local authorities, NGOs, academia, etc.
- Participate in project activities (meetings, trainings, workshops, other public activities) preparation, implementation and follow up, take meeting minutes;
- Assist in EORE materials development and improvement, included, but not limited to drafting PowerPoint presentations.
- Provide assistance with DRC documents and correspondence drafting, translation and interpretation as needed;
- Contribute to the annual, monthly and detailed implementation work plans and reports preparation in timely and quality manner based on the requirements;
- Regularly review the RE progress, pre/post assessments and program integration data to ensure the achievement is as per the RE quarterly plan and ensure the teams are reporting in line with requirements;
- Collecting and compiling of weekly reports from the fields and timely submitting to the RE Specialist;
- Assistance with the recruitment processes and follow up on recruitments with HR department and RE projects focal points;
- Assistance and support to the smooth running of the EO risk education and other DRC activities;
- Assistance with any other task related to the successful operation of the DRC program in Afghanistan
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role you must have:
Experience and technical competencies:
- At least (2-3) years’ experience in the humanitarian field with national/international NGOs, experience with Mine Action is preferred.
- Experience is preferred.
Education/qualifications:
- Holding Bachelor degree from recognized institute
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlock is required
- Demonstrated Communication skills & ability to work effectively under time constraints & take intiatives
- Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, (the person should be able to prepare required databases in Excel and PPT in PowerPoint)
Other skills:
- Ability to manage and monitor all mine action activities and deployment of teams in the area.
- Effective coordination and communication with the AM and APM all the time
- Timely reporting of HMA-related activities and accidents/incidents
- Budget management skills
- Computer skills required in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
Languages:
- Fluency in speaking & writing in national language (Dari & Pashto) & English is required
