ABOUT DRC SUDAN

 

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Sudan since 2004, delivering life-saving programming in protection, emergency response, shelter, food security and livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, camp management, and humanitarian mine action. DRC has implemented projects in Central Darfur, South Kordofan, Gedaref, Port Sudan, and White Nile. Sudan hosts one of the largest displaced populations in Africa, with over 3.7 million internally displaced people and over 1.1 million refugees from South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Central African Republic, Chad, Yemen and Syria. Against a background of political crisis, Sudan faces economic and social turmoil, with sharp increases in food and energy costs, further exacerbated by disease outbreaks and ongoing conflict.

 

POSITION PROFILE

Under the supervision of the Economic Recovery Officer, the assistant supports the routine

and daily implementation and administration of the economic recovery and livelihood projects for DRC in White Nile, including supporting organizing and supervising volunteer teams, registration of POCs, managing cash for work, community mobilization and data collection

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Programming & Operations:

  • Ensure efficient and effective program implementation while following guidance and recommendation of the Economic Recovery Officer.
  • Lead on the implementation of basic tasks within sector area, including beneficiary identification, distribution of relief assistance (either cash or in-kind), needs assessments and other sector-specific evaluations
  • Responsible for administrative tasks, including preparation of PRs, receiving supplies and goods and tracking of outputs
  • Always ensure compliance with DRC and donor requirements and procedures during implementation
  • Participate in preparing monthly/quarterly/annual highlights/reports and data collection for
  • Support the teams in conducting assessments and carrying out monitoring and evaluation exercises

 

Coordination and representation:

  • Supporting the development of positive relationships with beneficiaries, local communities, local authorities, humanitarian partners, service providers etc. in order to maintain trust in DRC’s professional standard and quality of work among all stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all interactions with individual beneficiaries take place in an environment and in a way that respects and promotes their safety, trust and dignity.
  • Ensure that all interactions with other stakeholders such as community members and service providers are conducted in accordance to the principles of respect, confidentiality and collaboration.
  • Attend Sector Meeting/Coordination meetings when delegated.

Reporting:

  • Ensure that quality and accurate reports and supporting documentation on implemented activities, are submitted timely and daily to the Officer/ TL. To this end, ensure that both the hard and soft copies of all activity reports are archived on the server and/or uploaded onto online platforms for information management as relevant.
  • Ensure that all information or data shared is done so in a manner that upholds the principle of data protection and confidentiality.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience in the agriculture sector, economic recovery and food security.
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Advanced English proficiency
  • Fluency in local language

 

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

University degree in agriculture, food security, natural resources management, rural development, economy or any relevant field.

 

LANGUAGES  

 

  • Arabic and English (Fluency)

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national/international employees.
