Christian Friis Bach has stepped down from his role as Secretary General in the Danish Refugee Council

Christian Friis Bach has stepped down from his role as Secretary General in the Danish Refugee Council as from 24 April.

Chairwomen of the Executive Committee, Agi Csonka, says: “Christian is a visionary, who has initiated a lot of exiting development initiatives. International humanitarian organisations face a huge pressure. This requires management prioritizations to implement the continuing professionalization of the organisation and at the same time provide for the best possible working conditions for the employees to help refugees all over the world. The Executive Committee has in agreement decided that there is a need for another management profile to lead the Danish Refugee Council through the necessary organizational changes.”

Agi Csonka adds: “I would like to say thank you to Christian for the great and engaging job. I hope that his multi-facetted competences and engagement will help the world’s most vulnerable societies.”

HR Director Mads Egeskov Sørensen has been appointed acting daily manager and there will be taken a decision as fast as possible on the acting management in the International Department until a new International Director has been found.
