Poland: Protection Monitoring Analysis
This overview provides a summary of the key challenges faced by refugee people in the Lower Silesia region, forced to leave their homes due to the ongoing armed conflict in Ukraine. This document focuses on issues related to housing, employment, access to personal documents, social cohesion and protection from violence based on gender, including sexual violence (SGBV), taking into account existing research conducted by other organisations, including humanitarian organisations, on the needs and risk factors that refugees are exposed to. For the purposes of this summary, we will be talking about: the risk of exploitation at work, the risk of eviction and tenancy insecurity, lack of access to personal documents, hate speech and bias-motivated violence. These issues are fundamental to understanding obstacles to independence, meeting basic needs and integration. Moreover, they are equally important for shaping humanitarian aid programs, which - thanks to this analysis - will be adequate and adapted both to the needs of the refugee community and taking into account existing services and support systems.
