The Danish Refugee Council and Ole Kirk’s Fond renew longstanding humanitarian partnership
Ole Kirk’s Fond has generously contributed DKK20 million to DRC Danish Refugee Council’s Global Emergency Response Fund to be allocated to emergencies over the next two years.
Ole Kirk’s Fond has supported the Danish Refugee Council’s Global Emergency Response Fund since 2017 and is the first Foundation to support the Fund. The renewal of the partnership enables us to quickly reach even more forcibly displaced people globally with lifesaving humanitarian assistance such as shelter, food, water and protection services when emergencies occur globally.
"Danish Refugee Council are proud of our longstanding partnership with Ole Kirk’s Fond, which has supported the Global Emergency Response Fund since 2017. The Foundation’s continued support enables DRC to quickly respond and deliver urgently needed humanitarian assistance to displaced persons affected by shocks globally - as and where it is needed the most," says Charlotte Slente, Secretary General of the Danish Refugee Council.
Relief to displaced families in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Thanks to the renewed emergency partnership with Ole Kirk’s Fond, DKK 749.000 has already been allocated from DRC’s Global Emergency Response Fund to respond to urgent needs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In January alone, an estimated staggering 400,000 people were displaced across North Kivu and South Kivu, of which 41% are school-aged children.
With the support of Ole Kirk’s Fond, DRC will provide lifesaving cash assistance to enable hundreds of displaced families to meet their basic needs.
The Danish Refugee Council has been present in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since 2009.
Preconditions for securing acute and lifesaving humanitarian aid for children and families in a crisis are speed and agility. They need help now. The funding pool and trusted partnership with DRC secures that and is of high value to us in our dedication to secure relief for the effected families.
