Apply Now

Are you looking for an exciting internship opportunity with one of the world's largest NGOs working on humanitarian mine action and peacebuilding? Then you might be our new intern for the Fall semester.

About the job

The Humanitarian Disarmament & Peacebuilding (HDP) sector seeks to contribute to the fields of disarmament and peacebuilding through a focus on the safety and security of the displaced and conflict affected populations at the center of DRC’s mandate. This work is guided by a bottom-up, rights-based approach, which emphasizes the rights of conflict affected and displaced communities to safety and security. Community level activities include but are not limited to reducing the threat of landmines and explosive remnants of war, mitigating and managing the tensions which lead to conflict, and improving transparency and accountability in the relationships between local communities and duty bearers, such as local security providers. In the short term, HDP works to reduce and prevent tensions and further conflict in situations of displacement and emergency. In the longer term, HDP promotes stability and durable solutions by addressing root causes of conflict both in the early recovery and at long-term stages.

The intern will

  • Support DRC’s HDP team with data and information management, including collecting, analyzing, and sharing operational outputs and outcomes from global Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) and peacebuilding programs, in line with sectoral and DRC MEAL standards.
  • Develop visual materials of program data and outputs (e.g. charts, infographics and presentations) for reporting and communications purposes.
  • Support the development and implementation of peacebuilding program activities.
  • Contribute to the identification, consolidation, and sharing of HDP case studies to foster internal learning and external engagement.
  • Help strengthen internal cooperation within DRC to strengthen external engagement, visibility and communication.
  • Contribute to a wide range of ad hoc tasks (e.g. minute taking, administrative tasks) across the HDP team, depending on operational needs.

The role offers hands-on experience with monitoring, evaluation and learning processes and provides insight into humanitarian mine action and peacebuilding operations across 20+ countries.
