DRC Uganda is currently looking for a motivated individual to join our dynamic team as Communications Intern. 

The overall purpose of the role:  

The Communications Intern will support the efforts to increase understanding of DRC's work by assisting in the development and dissemination of high quality communication materials. Working closely with Programme teams, He/she will contribute to enhancing visibility and ensuring all outputs align with organizational guidelines, donor requirements, and ethical standards.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be: 

  • Support in the implementation of the Communications and Visibility plan of the Country-Based Pool Fund (CBPF) funded project in line with DRC standards and donor guidelines.  

  • With support from the Program Development and Quality Manager (PDQM), coordinate with field communication focal points to ensure timely approval and publication of quality content of DRC activities on the relevant channels.

  • With support from the PDQM, liaise with the Head Quarters (HQ) communications team to ensure publication of content on DRC’s communication platforms and regularly. 

  • With support from PDQM, conduct editing, standardizing and producing communication products for the different projects, and work with the Supply Chain team to ensure communication and visibility materials provided by the vendors have the right DRC, Partner and donor logos. 

  • Identification of key communications and visibility needs, and coordination with programme and country staff to best identify materials and modalities of dissemination.  

  • With support from the PDQM, support in organizing training for staff in communication and visibility 

  • Ensure consent forms are used correctly 

  • With support from the PDQM, update the country fact sheets, newsletter and profile documents 

  • Support in coordinating visibility during commemoration of international days.  

  • Ensure filing of the communications and visibility products 

  • Perform other duties as assigned including support to other components of the Quality Assurance Unit. 

About you 

  • To be successful in this role, we expect the following. 

Required 

  • Ongoing University degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Media studies or related field.

  • Basic communications experience 

  • Excellent writing, editing and communications skills in English. 

  • Strong computer/digital skills. 

  • Skills in managing social media. 

  • Ability to support training.  

  • Ability to use communication tools such as Canva and Adobe. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively with competing priorities and tight deadlines.

We offer 

  • Contract length: 3 months 

  • Designation of Duty Station: Kampala 

  • Start date: June 2026
