Economic Recovery and MEAL Intern

Apply Now

Are you looking for an exciting internship opportunity with one of the world’s largest humanitarian NGOs? Then you might be our new intern for the Fall semester with DRC’s Global Economic Recovery and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)Team.

About the job

The Global Economic Recovery Team leads the strategic and technical directions of DRC’s Economic Recovery (EcRec) core sector. In DRC, this sector offers a holistic package of services through the three mutually reinforcing sub-sectors of Food Security, Financial Inclusion and Decent Livelihoods. Our goal is to contribute to the coverage of immediate needs (life-saving assistance), while supporting people to (re)build their autonomy and dignity as early as possible following their displacement.

The global team also hosts DRC’s global Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) Advisor. CVA is DRC’s preferred modality of assistance as it gives people the autonomy to prioritize their own needs whether it's food, medicine, or education. This flexibility preserves dignity and is consistently preferred by communities in diverse contexts.

We work in close collaboration with the Global Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Division which focuses on evidence; its analysis, documentation, and sharing. Through joint EcRec and MEAL initiatives, we strive to build a robust evidence base of our Economic Recovery and CVA programming, learning from field operations about the interventions that have the most positive impact on people affected by displacement.

About the internship

The purpose of this internship is to support the team’s work on data, learning, and knowledge management, with a particular focus on strengthening tools and processes related to the Self-Reliance Index.

The internship will assist our global teams in five main tasks:

  • Institutionalization of the use of the Self-Reliance Index. This will include supporting the development of a dashboard to analyze the data on self-reliance generated at country level and, assisting in the coordination and logistical aspects of the rollout of the Self-Reliance Index across country operations
  • Support in the compilation of DRC’s global aggregated results
  • Enhance Portfolio Mapping and Knowledge Management for both the Economic Recovery sector and CVA programming
  • Support collaboration with MEAL and other teams on data and information management initiatives
  • Contribute to ad hoc research, analysis, and internal communication products

We offer flexibility in the type of tasks, so you also have the possibility to influence the tasks, subject to what is relevant for your study program.
