About the role

Overall purpose of the role: (1-2 sentences)

Under the CCCM PM Supervision the Camp Management General Support is responsible for building relationships with beneficiaries, information management, local level capacity building, facilitating meetings, and assisting other DRC field teams with project implementation. This is a field-based position and may require spending extended periods of time in the field, involves working at IDP hosting sites and host communities (HCs) and working together with other international and local organizations to coordinate implementation of humanitarian activities, support the ABSM Approach (Area-Based Site Management), community based site management mechanisms, and monitor IDP hosting sites and host communities for international standards as well as service related needs and gaps.

 

Responsibilities: (in bullet points)

  • Support site/Area governance with regular communication and meeting with the site/Area management committees at the ABSM catchment area, ensuring action points are followed up
  • Support following up Complaints received from the catchment area including the IDPs and HCs
  • Arranging meetings with the IDPs community and HCs to brainstorm ideas for site / Area community led projects, supporting implementation once approved.
  • Support referral mechanism in the catchment area and regular updating of the service mapping. 
  • Support tracking timely referrals and service requests to key partners
  • Take lead in flood response in terms of quick damage assessment, reporting, distributing items for the affected populations
  • Support identifying site/Area infrastructure work required for the Area in coordination with the community
  • Conduct multi-sectorial assessment on quarterly basis
  • Support the Infrastructure Assistant during the Cash for Shelter upgrade intervention
  • Support data collection for Site Management monitoring tool
  • Taking lead in CCCM/Shelter-managed distributions

 

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Minimum one and half year of work experience in the CCCM sector
  • Excellent skills in establishing and building relationships with community
  • Excellent ability to understand the needs of displacement affected persons
  • Basic conceptual understanding of gender, protection, and human rights
  • Good representation, negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong team spirit and ability to work comfortably in multi-cultural contexts
  • Experience with using basic software, such as MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to write situational briefings
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time in field conditions
  • Ability to come up with innovative solutions to unexpected and challenging problems

 

Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)

  • High Secondary School or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as humanitarian assistance, social sciences or social studies, or a related discipline is often required.

 

Languages: (indicate fluency level)

  • Professional fluency in spoken and written Arabic and good English is essential.

We Offer.

Contract length:  December 31, 2026

Position Band:  This position will be placed in the non-management (J) band. Reports to the Camp Coordination and Camp Management/Shelter PM

 

Start date: ASAP

Duty station: Lahj, Yemen.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s National Terms of Employment.
