Who are we?
The Office of the Secretary General is a small team, supporting the Secretary General and overall governance of DRC. This includes day-to-day support to the Secretary General’s meetings and missions abroad, facilitating meetings of the Executive Management Team, the Board of Directors, and the Council of DRC, as well as coordinating closely with departments and regions across DRC on strategic projects and priorities.
About the job
The student assistant will be involved in a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Support the planning of and follow up to meetings and missions involving the Secretary General
- Handle document legalization, including notarization, apostilles, and coordination with embassies and translation services
- Support the planning and execution of Executive Management Team meetings, including agenda coordination, minutes-taking, and follow-up on decisions and action points
- Support with internal and external communication
- Logistical support for meetings and events such as receptions, and internal seminars.
- Support with other ad hoc and administrative tasks as needed.
About you
Your field of study is not important, but it will most likely be within social sciences, political sciences, law, communication, and/or international affairs.
To apply for the student assistant position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a university program during the period of your employment in DRC
- Confirm that you have the required permits to work and live in Denmark.
- Have full professional proficiency in Danish and English; basic knowledge of French or Spanish is desirable.
- Have the ability to navigate a challenging environment and handle complex tasks and sensitive information.
Moreover, we also expect that you:
- Have an eye for detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate an interest in international affairs and humanitarian assistance.
- Show strong organizational skills with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks at the same time.
- Be a team player with excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills.
- It will be an advantage if you have experience with Microsoft Office365 and SharePoint.

As a student assistant in the Secretary General’s office, we offer you the opportunity to:
- Gain experience working in a global humanitarian organization (and Denmark’s largest) with a variety of exciting tasks
- Work closely with senior leadership and the whole organization, including DRC Country Offices around the world, as well as partners to DRC
- Work independently and with a lot of responsibility, while being an integrated team member of a small dynamic team supporting the DRC senior management team
- Strengthen your writing and communication skills and gain experience with financial management
Contract length: Permanent subject to being enrolled in a study program.
Working hours: 15 hours per week. The working hours should preferably be split between 2-3 working days per week and within normal office hours from 8.00 to 17.00.
Workplace: The Danish Refugee Council’s headquarters in Copenhagen at Lyngbyvej 100, 2100 Copenhagen Ø, just by Ryparken station
Start date: Early June 2026.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and HK. This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply.
