About the job

Overall purpose of the role: DRC’s Protection Programme conducts systematic protection analysis on protection risks and trends affecting vulnerable displacement-affected populations in order to inform humanitarian planning and programming, and facilitate referrals to appropriate services. The Protection Analysis Officer will support those efforts by leading on data analysis and developing informational products such as reports. He/she will also review research tools, offer technical support for partners implementing monitoring, and oversee the quality of information.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead on developing, updating, and rolling out data collection tools and methodologies including determining relevant samples under supervision of the Protection Coordinator and in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Analyze data from protection monitoring, and draft narrative research reports using KoboToolbox, qualitative analysis software (e.g., MAXQDA) and PowerBI
  • Be responsible for responding to ad hoc requests for information/analysis using DRC protection monitoring data or other research data.
  • Lead on developing capacity building plans and implementing trainings for enumerators and relevant partners to ensure quality information.
  • Produce reports highlighting key issues and trends in coordination with Protection Coordinator, partners and other key stakeholders.
  • Produce other information products such as one-pagers and briefs in coordination with the Protection Coordinator and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor and review data collection methodologies and quality of information collected in order to change, update, and improve research tools and systems in collaboration with Protection Coordinator and partners.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Economic Recovery sector to ensure that information collection and reporting is integrated and coordinated across sectors.
  • Support in donor reporting and development of new concepts for future programing.
  • Undertakes other tasks as requested by the Protection Coordinator or Head of Programme

 

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have university degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Human Rights, Law, or related field.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • Minimum of 2 years practical experience in research or protection monitoring, working for INGOs in humanitarian setting is preferable.
  • Proven experience developing reports (including monitoring reports, situation reports, thematic briefs, and others) in protection-related themes.
  • Excellent knowledge of qualitative research/protection monitoring methodologies, experience in development and roll out of data collection tools.
  • Knowledge of the protection analysis framework, including familiarity with human rights and other international legal frameworks and ability to interpret, analyze and synthesize information.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, KoboToolbox, qualitative analysis software (e.g., MAXQDA), PowerBI; working knowledge of quantitative analysis software such as R desirable
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-cultural environment as well as independently
  • Fluent English
  • Fluent Turkish

Preferable

  • Experience in capacity building of research teams including development of training materials.
  • Proficiency in Arabic
