Overall purpose of the role:
The cleaner will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and orderly condition of the CSS Center. The role includes daily cleaning of offices, common areas, bathrooms, and other center facilities, as well as providing basic support tasks such as preparing tea, washing utensils, managing cleaning supplies, and reporting maintenance needs. The position contributes to ensuring that the CSS Center remains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and beneficiaries.
Responsibilities:
The Cleaner will:
- Clean the CSS Center on a daily basis, including offices, corridors, meeting rooms, reception areas, and other shared spaces.
- Ensure that bathrooms and toilets are cleaned, disinfected, and maintained in a hygienic condition every day.
- Empty waste bins regularly and ensure proper disposal of waste in line with center procedures.
- Prepare tea and other basic refreshments when requested, and wash cups, utensils, and related materials after use.
- Maintain cleaning materials, hygiene supplies, and storage areas in an organized and safe condition.
- Monitor the availability of cleaning supplies and inform the line manager when items need to be replenished.
- Report any damages, maintenance issues, safety concerns, or repair needs to the line manager in a timely manner.
- Support the arrangement and cleanliness of meeting spaces before and after activities, sessions, or visits.
- Cooperate respectfully with DRC staff, visitors, partners, and beneficiaries at the CSS Center.
- Maintain confidentiality and avoid interference in program activities, case management, or staff work.
- Follow DRC’s Code of Conduct, safety instructions, and safeguarding standards at all times.
- Perform any other relevant tasks assigned by the line manager.
Experience and technical competence:
- Minimum 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience in cleaning offices, centers, public buildings, or similar facilities.
- Previous experience as a cleaner, support worker, or office helper is desirable.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning materials, hygiene practices, and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to keep the workplace clean, organized, and safe.
- Ability to work respectfully and professionally with staff, beneficiaries, and visitors.
- Flexibility to support additional tasks or work outside normal hours when required.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and attention to detail.
- Commitment to DRC’s Code of Conduct and humanitarian principles.
Education:
- High School Degree
Languages:
- Spoken and written Arabic is essential
