Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and implements emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC is currently looking for Driver in Sumy.

About the job:

The Driver is responsible for operating and maintaining a vehicle to ensure safe and efficient transportation for operational programs and field offices.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Operate the vehicle daily and conduct checks in compliance with DRC rules and policies.
  • Inspect the onboard logbook, first aid kit, and fire extinguisher in the vehicle.
  • Ensure the vehicle is clean both inside and outside as needed.
  • Report any accidents, damage, or vehicle defects to the supervisor and safety specialist, and complete a detailed accident report for submission to the fleet specialist for further action.
  • Verify and ensure the accuracy of logbooks and travel sheets.
  • Ensure all vehicles are properly parked during the day and night at the office parking area.
  • Inspect the vehicle after repairs to confirm the work was done properly.
  • Understand and comply with all traffic rules in Ukraine and DRC procedures.
  • Always carry a valid driver’s license and ensure it is renewed when necessary.
  • Notify the responsible officer about required services and maintenance of the assigned vehicle.
  • Communicate with the vehicle fleet manager and safety staff.
  • Monitor fuel levels and refuel the vehicle as needed.
  • Adhere to regulated working hours.
  • Drivers must work according to the operational needs of the programs.

About You:

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have a minimum of 3 years of safe driving experience, knowledge of safety practices, and excellent communication skills. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • Education: secondary or vocational-technical.
  • Driver's license category B.
  • Knowledge of traffic rules.
  • Knowledge of vehicle technical specifications.
  • Possession of a valid medical driver’s certificate, including psychiatrist and narcologist conclusions.
  • Knowledge of the city map.
  • Fluent in Ukrainian.
  • Computer literacy: basic skills in using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Desirable

  • Higher education.
  • Work experience in international or non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
  • Proficiency in English is preferred.
