Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs and Denmark’s biggest NGO, is looking for an HR partner to our HR Denmark team supporting our global HQ in Copenhagen and our Danish operations.
Are you an HR partner with experience from HR work in Denmark, a solutions oriented approach and are you skilled at building relationships and supporting leaders so they can use the HR toolbox and create success through their employees?
About the job
Our global HR department consists of around 30 colleagues across three teams. We support DRC’s leaders and employees in making a difference for refugees and displaced people worldwide through strategic and operational HR services, including compensation and benefits, recruitment, well‑being, performance, development, and people planning.
You will join the HR Denmark team, which consists of six colleagues, including two other HR Partners, an HR specialist and two payroll colleagues. You will also cooperate with the HR Global team and the HR Operations & Analytics team. The HR Denmark team supports primarily our headquarters in Copenhagen and our operation across Denmark. You will be welcomed in an exciting and vibrant international work environment where both Danish and English are used daily.
As an HR Partner, you are the primary point of contact for leaders in your departments and responsible for the link between HR and the business — strengthening HR focus in the business and business focus in HR. Depending on your competencies, you may also lead projects. You will report to the Head of HR for Denmark.
Your profile
You have experience from a similar position, ideally as an HR Partner — for example from an international organization based in Denmark. You have knowledge of the Danish labor market and handling HR issues in a Danish context. It is important that you are able to prioritize tasks and thrive in a varied workday.
- Primary HR contact for leaders in your business area(s)/departments
- Advising leaders across the full HR spectrum, including handling Danish employment law matters
- Operational tasks such as salary offers, complex contracts, terminations, and severance agreements
- Leadership development — supporting both experienced and new leaders in their personal development
- Participating in recruitment processes for leadership positions in your area(s)
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have several years of working experience within HR.
Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
- You have a relevant academic degree (bachelor’s or master’s)
- You have solid experience with Danish employment law, collective agreements, local agreements and how these are handled in practice
- You are skilled at communicating with colleagues and stakeholders at many levels, both verbally and in writing, in both Danish and English. You do not necessarily need to be Danish native speaking, but you need to be able to work in Danish
- You take responsibility, think holistically, follow tasks through to completion, and take initiative
- You are business‑ and service‑minded and you can balance business needs with HR compliance
- You are structured, detail‑oriented, and not afraid of operational tasks
- You are a team player, and you look forward to being part of a well‑functioning HR department in an international work environment
All employees are expected to demonstrate DRC’s five core competencies:
Striving for excellence: You focus on reaching results while ensuring an efficient process.
Collaborating: You involve relevant parties and encourage feedback.
Taking the lead: You take ownership and initiative while aiming for innovation.
Communicating: You listen and speak effectively and honestly.
Demonstrating integrity: You uphold and promote the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct in relation to our values and Code of Conduct, including safeguarding against sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment.
