Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and implements emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for a Finance Assistant in Sumy. This position reports to the Finance Team Leader. 

About the job

Under the supervision of the Finance Team Leader, the Finance Assistant is responsible for ensuring the overall day-to-day financial operations of the office and supporting the implementation of DRC's program activities.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Review financial documentation for compliance with DRC internal procedures, donor requirements, and applicable legislation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions in Microsoft Dynamics.
  •  Maintain financial records, expense journals, and cash books.
  • Verify the completeness of supporting documentation for payments and reporting purposes.
  • Ensure the proper filing, organization, and archiving of financial documentation.
  • Prepare documentation required for financial reporting and audits.
  •  Support the Finance Team Leader in carrying out day-to-day tasks and implementing the organization's financial procedures.
  •  Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective financial administration of projects.

About you:

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have at least 1-2 years of experience in the finance field, including maintaining day-to-day financial records. Moreover, we also expect the following: 

Required

  • Full higher education in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in document preparation
  • Strong attention to detail in document preparation and processing.
  • Knowledge of tax legislation

Desirable

  • Experience working in an NGO will be considered an advantage
  • Intermediate level of English proficiency
  • Strong organizational skills

We offer:

  • Contract length: 3 months as a probation period with the possibility of extension, depending on performance and funding.
  • Band: І non-management.
  • Designation of Duty Station: Sumy.
  • Start date: ASAP.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for employees on national contracts; starting from EUR 1465 gross per month (depending on experience and qualifications).
