About the job:
Deminer receives work assignments from the Humanitarian Mine Action Team Lead (Demining).
Direct supervisor: Humanitarian Mine Action Supervisor – Demining Supervisor.
Deminer is guided in his/her work by this job description, standard operating procedures (hereinafterreferred to as the SOP), and the current regulations of the Representative Office of the Danish RefugeeCouncil in Ukraine (hereinafter referred to as the DRC).
Permit for independent work of Deminer is carried out after training and checking knowledge of the SOP.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete mandatory training as part of the recruitmentprocess. Job offers will be extended to successful candidates upon completion of the training.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Complete all mandatory training as determined by the Mine Action Program Coordinator.
- Conduct safe demining procedures strictly in accordance with the instructions of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); adhere to the SOPs established for the demining procedure; apply the proper marking system as specified in the SOPs.
- Maintain your personal protective equipment in good condition, clean it regularly and check for any damage.
- Maintain equipment and tools in proper cleanliness, working condition and in a complete set, including the detector and demining tools.
- Be responsible for your own safety and maintain discipline at all times while on the work site; be responsible for the safety of others working around you.
- Assist with non-technical and technical surveys of areas; work hard to ensure the effectiveness of the entire team.
- Follow the instructions of the Team Lead; immediately report any threats to the safety of the team and/or others to the Team Lead.
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least Secondary Education and Vocational Education or Secondary Education and Professional training in a relevant organization. Moreover, wealso expect the following:
Required
- Physical and psychological endurance with a desire to engage in physically demanding manual labor;
- Willingness to work away from home for long periods of time;
- Completion of relevant demining and security training;
- First aid skills;
- Excellent discipline and ability to follow direct instructions.
Desirable
- Previous work experience as a team member;
- Driving license and experience of driving;
- Knowledge of English language would be an advantage.
