Somalia Flash Report#1/ Gu rains trigger widespread flooding putting displaced populations at risk

As Somalia welcomes the Gu rainy season, significant flooding since April 19th threatens nearly 770,000 individuals across 22 districts, intensifying the hardships in a nation battling severe climate adversity and conflict. This report presents an overview of the situation and a few key observed elements in DRC managed IDP sites in Baidoa and Beletweyne: DRC response includes anticipatory measures such as dissemination of early warning messages, conduction of rapid needs assessments, registration of 900 households to receive MPCA based on triggers, hygiene promotion combined with 40,000 litres of emergency water distribution, protection assistance and continuous coordination efforts.
