Jordan is one of the countries most affected by the Syria conflict, currently considered the second highest refugee hosting country per capita with 89 refugees per 1,000 inhabitants.
DRC has been active in Jordan since 2003, when it first responded to the Iraqi refugee crisis. In 2013, DRC launched a multi-sectorial response to the Syrian crisis in Jordan.
DRC in Jordan focuses on providing protection and economic recovery. Our activities encompass both critical emergency response and sustainable long-term solutions.
DRC works to strengthen the protective environment, encourage self-reliance among vulnerable households and communities, and provide access to basic services and livelihood opportunities for displacement-affected communities in seven governorates across the Kingdom, including Azraq refugee camp.
