DRC delivers humanitarian assistance in 9 countries in West & North Africa; Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Nigeria, The Central African Republic, Tunisia, Libya and Algeria.
Several of the countries in the region are affected by multiple negative factors including protracted refugee and displacement crises, armed conflict and violence against civilians, climate change and extreme weather conditions, food insecurity and political and economic instability.
Across the region, DRC applies a cross-cutting approach in order to respond to the needs of vulnerable and displacement affected populations including refugees, internally displaced and host communities.
We provide lifesaving humanitarian assistance including food and non-food items, shelter and settlement support and water, sanitation and hygiene security; our economic recovery activities aim at strengthening livelihoods and the financial and nutritional resilience of affected populations; we carry out humanitarian mine action; our armed violence reduction activities aim at addressing local conflict dynamics, strengthening social cohesion and supporting the resilience of local communities to armed violence.
DRC responds to the region's protection crises in the form of protection monitoring; by improving the affected population's access to basic services; by offering legal aid and psychosocial support; by facilitating referrals and by placing fundamental rights and dignity at the forefront of everything we do.
