DRC Greece: Access to schools for migrant and refugee children

This winter, DRC teams in Greece focus on the integration of refugee and migrant children into the formal education setting with the All Children in Education (ACE) project.

There is a high risk for children who are part of the mixed migration flows that they will remain out of the formal education systems. By now, DRC in Greece can mark six years of experience in non-formal Education support to children in camps and urban settings, focusing on meaningful access of migrant and refugee children to the public school system.  

Since 2021, DRC participates in All Children in Education (ACE) project and provides a multitude of direct support to parents and caregivers with administration procedures and all necessary steps for school enrolments. At the same time, specialised staff and teachers offer learning and homework support classes, Greek and English Language course and classes to all children from 3 to 17 years old in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, also known as STEM. In addition, DRC support efforts that allow for offering early development activities and psychosocial support sessions that are critical and much needed in accommodation site facilities in Greece.  

The project is implemented in six regions across mainland Greece with DRC present in three regions as a key partner in the All Children in Education (ACE) project since 2021.
