Meet Mubina Isaković our Protection Monitoring Officer

Mubina Isaković has been part of the Danish Refugee Council team for two years as a Protection Monitoring Officer. After several years of working in non-governmental organizations that dedicated their humanitarian activities to people on the move, Mubina applied the acquired knowledge and experience to her current work duties and contributed to the improvement of the quality of services in the field of protection of human rights as well as in the performance of daily tasks in outreach locations.

"I start my day with morning coffee and a briefing with my work colleagues. This is very important to us because then we set the priorities for that day and exchange information about the duties that need to be performed on the field. With the rest of the team, I am dedicated to identifying the needs of people on the move who we meet in the field so that in synergy with partner organizations we can help them in a timely manner," says Mubina.

In her daily work, she often records various forms of human rights violations. Thanks to her accidental experience as well as her communication skills, Mubina empathically approaches people on the move who have had negative experiences and tries, above all, to gain their trust in order to get the right information and provide adequate help. This is not always the case, but if emotion is brought into the conversation with people on the move, if you show that you can truly understand them easily and that you can ease the current situation, then you are on the right track.

"DRC as an organization provides a lot of room for learning and professional development. I also learn from colleagues in the team who have different work experiences. When you communicate with people on the move, it is of great importance that they understand the culture they come from, and cultural mediators help us with that. Everyday conversations with different people, who call them broader horizons, bring new insights that we didn't have and make it possible to understand them better. Since I am a very empathetic person, I often personally experienced all the troubles that people in the movement went through. Through work, I learned to understand how much of my personal responsibility is for the things that happen and to try to help as much as I can", emphasizes Mubina.

In her free time, Mubina reads and enjoys walking. She spends a lot of time with her family and friends, who are her support system. According to Mubina, It is believed that we all have a system of values that we have built up during our lives and that all people should have equal rights. In the event of a violation of those rights, both individuals and communities should react.
