The DiPS Advisory Board members are elected every other year by their respective communities. The next election will take place during the upcoming Diaspora Grand Meeting (DGM) on November 19th, 2023.
Only two advisory boards will be elected, one for the Afghan diaspora and one for the Somali diaspora. If you are part of the Afghan diaspora you can only vote for the Afghan candidates. If you are part of the Somali diaspora, you can only vote for the Somali candidates. If you are neither, your vote will not be counted. You need to register in order to vote.
Elected by diaspora representatives during the Diaspora Grand Meeting (DGM), the overall purpose of the Afghan and Somali advisory boards are to provide inputs to DiPS on diaspora project proposals and hold DiPS accountable toward the diaspora. The next members of the DiPS Advisory Boards will be elected at the Diaspora Grand Meeting on November 19th, 2023. You can read more about the DiPS Advisory Boards on our website here.
The election will take place during the Diaspora Grand Meeting (DGM) on November 19th, 2023. Everyone that has signed up for the DGM is automatically registered to vote. At the event all the candidates will get an opportunity to explain their motivation for running to be part of the DiPS Advisory Boards. After the speeches, the election will officially open and you should receive an SMS with a link to vote. The election will be between 13.00-15.00.
If you are interested in running for the 2024/2025 Advisory Board Election, submit the application form to [email protected] before November 18th, 16:00. Your answers to the question in the application form will be published on the DiPS website. On the day of the Diaspora Grand Meeting (DGM) those running for election will be invited to speak about their candidacy and members of the diaspora community will vote to elect the new Advisory Boards.
The voting for the advisory board candidates will be done online. If you register to attend in-person the Diaspora Grand Meeting (DGM), you are automatically registered to vote. If you are unable to attend in-person and would like to vote, please register to vote here. The election will be on November 19th between 13.00-15.00 CET (Copenhagen) and all registered voters will receive a link via SMS to vote on that day.
If you are not able to participate in the Diaspora Grand Meeting (DGM) in person this year, you can still vote for your favorite candidate online. However, you must register to vote. Please register here. You will receive an SMS with a link to vote on November 19th and will have to vote between 13.00-15.00.
You can vote for the full board you would like to see represent the diaspora. This means you can vote for up to 5 candidates. The top 5 candidates with the highest vote will become the official members of the advisory boards. The candidates that finish on the sixth and the seventh place will become the boards' standby members.
We will publish on our website all the candidates after the application deadline (November 12th). The candidates will also give a short speech during the Diaspora Grand Meeting (DGM) on November 19th, where there will be room for questions.
We will have a helpdesk at the Diaspora Grand Meeting (DGM) to help you out. We will also have a hotline you can call if you face any difficulties while voting online. More information about this will be shared closer to the event with everyone that have signed up for the DGM or registered to vote online.
