Together with amazon, DRC is working with refugees to better their digital skills and knowledge, so they can eventually find digital work.

Providing new skills

DRC is exploring whether refugees can access decent digital jobs and whether intensive digital training, such as coding, can be provided in refugee camps to increase skillsets to employable levels. The hope is, that this will expand the pool of possible jobs for refugees, where more income can be generated. This level of digital training have never been carried out in a refugee camp before.

Digital jobs for refugees

In general, there are few descent work opportunities in refugee camps, and its difficult to get access to education and training in order to learn new, more marketable skills. Some job-training is usually provided, but its too low level for people to get meaningful work. Therefore, this initiative will provide refugees with high-level digital skills, which will open doors for them get employment that can be worked from anywhere in the world - even from a refugee camp.
