DiPS deadlines after May 1st 2023

Next deadlines to apply for DiPS funding

As you know, the next deadline to apply for funding from DiPS will be May 1st, 2023. You can find all the information about how to apply as well as details about upcoming workshops and support before the deadline here.  

We would also like to share an important announcement about deadlines for applying for DiPS funding in the future; moving forward the deadline to apply for DiPS funding will be only one time per year instead of two times per year. This means that after the May 1st, 2023 deadline the next deadline to apply for DiPS funding will be April 1st, 2024.

DiPS will continue to have the same amount of funding available for diaspora-led projects (an average of 1,700,000 DKK per year), but all the funds will be allocated at one application deadline every year instead of two. The main reasons for this change are: 

1. By reducing the application deadline to one time per year, DiPS can select more projects at each deadline. Note that the chances of receiving funding will always depend on the number of applications submitted and can vary at each application deadline and it is still expected that there will be more applications than funding available.
2. Since more applications will be selected per deadline, DiPS aims to reduce the workload of diaspora organizations who submit the same application at several different deadlines.
3. DiPS will be able to host other trainings and workshops about topics related to implementing development projects in Somalia/Somaliland and Afghanistan. Before each deadline, DiPS will host workshops and trainings about how to apply for funding from DiPS. In the fall when there is not a deadline, DiPS will be able to have other workshops, trainings, and events.

Funding allocated by DiPS  
DiPS receives money from Danida to provide funding to diaspora-led projects in Afghanistan and Somalia. The money DiPS has from Danida is from the period 2022-2025. During this period DiPS has a total of 6,800,000 DKK to allocate to diaspora-led projects. So far DiPS has allocated about 3,000,000 DKK to diaspora-led projects. At the May 1st, 2023 deadline, DiPS expects to allocate about 1,800,000 DKK to projects. This is enough funding for 8-10 Track 1 projects (up to 150,000 DKK) and 1-2 Track 2 projects (up to 300,000 DKK).
