DRC Danish Refugee Council is a private humanitarian organisation, founded in 1956.
The executive management team of the Danish Refugee Council and the Secretary General are responsible for running DRC's daily affairs. The Secretary General is appointed by the Board of Directors.
Charlotte Slente was appointed Secretary General of the Danish Refugee Council in 2019, where she leads the organization’s humanitarian efforts in response to both emerging and protracted crises across approximately 32 countries, supported by a team of over 6,000 dedicated staff.
Danish Refugee Council is an umbrella organisation, including member organisations and volunteer groups. National or humanitarian organisations are eligible for the Danish Refugee Council. However, all member organisations must be non-political.

The Board of Directors has the overall responsibility for the overall management of the Danish Refugee Council. The chairperson of the Board of Directors is appointed by the Council.
