The agricultural sector in Syria remains the backbone of the country’s economy and rural livelihoods, yet years of conflict, economic decline, and climate-related pressures have left farmers facing complex, overlapping challenges that undermine productivity and resilience. This briefing report draws on qualitative data and farmers’ lived experiences to examine these constraints, their coping strategies, and the gaps that limit their ability to sustain their livelihoods. It highlights the specific impacts on vulnerable groups, including women, youth, children, and returnees, and presents farmers’ priorities and recommendations. Targeting key stakeholders, the briefing report aims to inform more effective, inclusive policies and programming to strengthen agricultural recovery and resilience.
