Strengthening resilience and empowering women through community-based projects in the West Coast of Yemen
As part of the Danish Refugee Council’s (DRC) commitment to improving living conditions and supporting durable solutions for displacement-affected communities across Yemen, DRC, with funding from the European Union, is implementing a project that places women at the heart of recovery and resilience.
In Khokha District in Hodeidah Governorate, with the support of the European Union (EU), through the Yemen Displacement Response Consortium, DRC empowered 49 women and strengthened community resilience through through a community-based project which provided training and materials for sewing and and Khazaf (palm leaf) handcrafts.
This initiative not only revives traditional crafts but also builds long-term income-generating opportunities for women affected by displacement and poverty. Through hands-on training and access to tools and materials, participants gained valuable skills that help restore their independence and dignity.
